Holy Communion

For United Methodists, Holy Communion recalls how Christ prepared His followers for His death, resurrection, and their obligation to serve others.

“Pour out Your Holy Spirit on these gifts that they might be the body and blood for us…

The elements of this Sacrament—the bread and the cup—represent the body of Christ, broken for us, and His blood, shed for us. Our service to others begins, as we then become the body of Christ, sharing the message of redemption.

Here at Shawnee, we celebrate Holy Communion the first Sunday of the month, welcoming all to Christ’s table who wish to partake, regardless of church affiliation or membership. We take Holy Communion by intinction (dipping the bread in the cup) during a meaningful service that is complimented by special musical selections.
