Our Worship Service

Our worship service features powerful, Bible-based sermons that are relevant to today’s world, great music, and an opportunity to experience God through prayer. The focus of Worship is to ensure that there is an opportunity for all who are present to experience God.

With that in mind, we try to offer meaningful worship that includes responsive readings, confession, and pardon, always stressing the immeasurable grace of God, but always taking care that different spiritual needs are met as we the Holy Spirit into the midst of our worship experience.

Our praise team ministers with contemporary worship songs and a band. Our gifted choir, musicians, and singers also present songs and hymns as they allow the Holy Spirit to flow through them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Thank you for visiting our website. Please enjoy your time here, click around to learn more about our ministries and what we believe, read through the Frequently Asked Questions below, and call us if you have any questions.

What should I wear?

There is no official dress code at our church. Dress comfortably but respectful of other’s modesty. Many people dress up, and just as many come dressed casually. We’re more concerned with the condition of your spirit than the attire you wear outwardly. Your comfort may be traditional church attire, jeans, and sneakers, or business casual. Come as you are!

Will I be asked to give an offering?

As a guest, you are not expected to make an offering. If you are a believer from another faith and wish to worship God with your offering, we certainly don’t wish to inhibit your blessings of thanksgiving to God. The opportunity to practice the Stewardship of giving in our service is a time of celebration at Shawnee United Methodist Church. Our members give as part of their commitment to God and the church, according to 2 Corinthians 9:7-8.

If I need prayer, will Shawnee pray for me?

Our Prayer Team meets to offer intercessory prayer during each of our services. If you have a prayer request, there is a prayer card available in each pew for you to fill out. Simply fill it out, and you may turn it in when requested.

If you wish, you may also send prayer requests through the PRAYER REQUEST page on our website, or you may call the church office.

Does Shawnee take communion?

Communion is taken on the first Sunday of each month. We believe in and practice “open communion,” welcoming all who love Christ, repent of their sin and seek to live in peace with one another.
