I grew up on a farm near Abilene, KS and attended Chapman High School, graduating with the class of 1980. I attended Kansas State University where I received a B.S. in Agricultural Economics with an emphasis on Agricultural Business. Following graduation, I worked in the Insurance Industry for 13 years before finally answering the call to ministry that I had felt since Junior High. I have been fulfilling that call since 2000 and am currently enrolled part-time at Asbury Theological Seminary pursuing a Master of Divinity degree. My focus in ministry is to help every church where God calls me to develop a strategy for making real-life disciples of Jesus Christ. Every Christian has the opportunity to share their faith, connect with and minister to others and become leaders themselves. I desire to work with each of them to find their God-given potential.

Our Staff

The gifts he gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,

Ephesians 4:11-12

At Shawnee United Methodist Church we are staffed to serve your needs. So we provide thoses whose gifts are designed to equip others for the work of Christ in our world. Childcare is provided for each of our worship experiences as well as special worship and social events at the church.

It is truly a gift to be called in the ministry of finances, administration, and office management. I started with Shawnee United Methodist Church May of 2013 as Office Administrator. I feel that it is an honor and privilege that I have been chosen by God as a servant over the Church’s business. I bring many years of experience in church finances and administrative work. I have been in Financing and Accounting for over 25 years.

I am truly grateful to GOD to stand alongside of my husband Pastor Erodney Perry in ministry. My belief is that we have all been called to “Kingdom Building”, which is to help build the body of Christ, and that only what we do for Christ will last. I enjoy spending time with my family, our children and grandchildren, teaching my grandchildren about Jesus and being everything GOD has called me to be.

My name is Chris Lehew, and I am the Director of Student Ministries. I grew up in Chickasha, Oklahoma and earned my Bachelor’s degree from Mid-America Christian University in music education. For 15 years I served as a public school music educator before following God’s calling into ministry. God and church involvement have always played a huge part in my life. I have been serving in churches since I was 18 years old as music minister, youth director, and assisting with whatever opportunity God directs me towards. Becca Lehew is my beautiful wife since March 2013. She is a public school librarian. We are both blessed to part of such a warm, welcoming congregation. We are excited for what God has in store for the youth and the church!

Phyllis Stauffer

Phyllis Stauffer

Lead Minister of Pastoral Care

I am blessed to be the Lead Minister of Pastoral Care. Our ministry of care is to connect the church with people during times of need. We are trained lay ministers who work alongside our pastor to provide care for our church family.

I grew up in the United Methodist Church in Kansas City, Missouri. Going to Sunday School and church every Sunday was important in our family life. I was also taught that service to the church was a part of being a member. I have worked in children's ministry and sung in the choir throughout my life. I even met my wonderful husband Ray in choir at this church!

I was called into the ministry a few years ago. I am a Certified Lay Minister and am now working toward becoming a Licensed Local Pastor.

My name is Becca, and I am the Children's Ministry Coordinator. I grew up in Northwest Arkansas. I am a graduate of Oklahoma Christian University where I received a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I also have a master's degree from the University of Central Arkansas in Library and Information Technology. Being the daughter of a teacher, a regular children's ministry volunteer throughout my life, and now a teacher myself, I greatly enjoy interacting with children. I love the energy and life they bring to our church family! Building the faith of young people is God's calling for my life. I have a strong desire to help kids learn about Jesus and God's Word through positive relationships and solid, Biblical teaching. I look forward to partnering with you to build the faith of the kids in our church and community!

Scott Fears

Scott Fears

Choir Director

I have been directing choirs in churches for more than 20 years. My passion is choosing music that inspires the choir and the congregation, and music that ties into the spoken work for the day. I try to provide those singers under my direction, an experience in a fun atmosphere that also challenges them musically and spiritually. I truly believe that music needs to touch the soul of every person in worship. So, I choose music from many different genres in an effort to reach many different people.

In my free time, I like to camp with my family and I am very active in our church’s Scouting program. I enjoy playing music with my children and seeing them enjoy Christ through music as well.

Director of Building Services

I want to ensure that our church buildings and property are inviting, safe, and supportive of meaningful worship and community ministry. Without intentionally pursuing it, I seem to have modeled my life an elderly man named Mr. Light, who taught all the adults during Sunday School, rang the church bell to let folks know that church would soon start, prepared the balcony for seating of the soldiers who assembled from the next door Army Depot, played bass in the string orchestra, and greeted people (especially the children) as they came to worship. I only pray to be a small reflection of the “light” that was in Mr. Light that still shines in the heavens to illumine the world.  I enjoy Scouting, reading mysteries, taking walks, and watching my son in performing arts activities.
